Penzance A 3

Okehampton 2

OKEHAMPTON survived a couple of early scares in defence and quickly started to play attractive hockey, moving the ball accurately and attacking with purpose.

They opened the scoring when Richard Jones struck home a short corner after Steve Sage had accurately delivered the ball to Robert Duffy.

Penzance scored next and at half-time honours were even.

The second half saw Olly Jewell introduced into the attack. The Okehampton forwards worked hard to make scoring chances and Simon Garland's dashing runs caused Penzance problems. Following one, the ball came free and Jewell was first to the ball and tapped it over the line.

The Okehampton defence held Penzance at bay. Phillip Hampson, who had an excellent game, came back into the circle and made some telling tackles.

Penzance equalised from a short corner moments after they had missed a penalty flick, and as the clock rolled on it looked as if the points would be shared.

Okehampton were unfortunate to concede a third goal near the end, but look forward to this week's away day in Falmouth.
