Okehampton Colts 23
North Petherton U19s 22
IN their last game of the season Okehampton played well in the first half running in three tries.
Fly-half Carl Poynton cut through on half-way, linked with centre Cameron Rickerby with quick hands on to Kevin Dennis, then full-back Jake Chisholm to put wing Callum Ausden into the corner.
The Okehampton front five of Mike Panton, Brad Hudson, Tom Richards, Will Hawking and Ricci Cobb were doing well in the scrums and lineouts supplying good possession for the backs.
The second try came from a clearance kick taken on half-way by full-back Chisholm who jinxed his way through the middle to score, the third came from a counter attack from the Okehampton 22 when wing Ausden was fed the ball from a turnover to score again, half-time 15-3.
Okehampton made a few changes at half-time but also eased off the pressure and allowed North Petherton back into the game and with five minutes left they took the lead with their third try. This woke up the Okehampton forwards who took control, got into the North Petherton 22 where scrum-half Richard Friend saw a gap on the blind-side to score in the corner to pull back to 20-22.
From the restart the Okes drove back towards the 22, North Petherton conceded a penalty which Poynton coolly slotted over to snatch a 23-22 win on the final whistle.
