THE Okehampton Ladies A tennis team were hoping to have finished their league matches by now but the last game of the season due to be played on July 31 had to be postponed until September due to rain. The previous three matches were of mixed fortune with a win, a draw and a loss.

At home against Tunnels Okehampton were hoping for revenge having lost their previous encounter.

Good match tennis was played by all and the evening finished in a 4-4 draw.

Playing at Bovey Tracy two days later Okehampton took control from the start. Julia Moysey and Angela Herrod-Taylor played well together to force a  6-2, 6-3win against Bovey's second pair and 6-2 6-0 win gainst the first pairing.

Beth Carter and Jackie Jarvis had a long match against Bovey's first pair ending in Bovey taking the points in a championship tie break.

In their second match they pulled out all the stops winning 6-2, 6-4 giving Okehampton a 7-2 victory.

At Exeter Golf and Country Club the following week the story was quite  different.

The home side used their astroturf courts to full advantage and Okehampton struggled to find form losing 0-8.

The postponed match is crucial now as a win gives Okehampton a chance of staying in division two.
