FREE training in how to use a lifesaving defibrillator is being offered by Okehampton charity Oke PADS.
The free monthly sessions teach people how to resuscitate someone using CPR and confidently use a defibrillator to restart the heart.
At present only one in ten people survive a heart attack outside a hospital, says the charity, hence the provision of more defibrillators and free training sessions in how to use them.
The next ones are on Tuesday, January 22 at Okehampton Rugby Club (7-9pm) and on Tuesday, February 12 at the Octagon Theatre at Okehampton College (6.30-8.30pm).
See okepads.wixsite.com/okepads and to book, which is essential, email [email protected].
The charity recently installed its fourth public access defibrillator outside the public toilets on George Street, with financial help from West Devon Borough Council.
The others are outside the 2 Rivers Restaurant on Fore Street, the fire station on North Road and Gillian’s Curtis Cuts on Crediton Road. A fifth is planned for a location off Exeter Road.
There are already three other public access defibrillators in the town, including one on the Exeter Road Industrial Estate.
