Launceston U14s 31 Okehampton U14s 19 OKEHAMPTON visited their Cornish neighbours with a depleted back line which gave the team a strange look at the start. The strength of the Okehampton pack was never in doubt as Lee Hughes made a storming run through the opposition for the first score of the game. Soon afterwards the lead was increased with Chis Courtier going over from close range and Matt Johns making both kicks to give Okehampton a 14-0 lead. Okehampton came close to increasing their lead but Launceston came back with a try to make it 14-7 at half time. Playing with the wind in the second half Launceston started to take advantage of the inexperience of the Okehampton backs and kicked themselves into good position from where they managed to level the scores. Launceston continued to find good field position but a break out from defence by Tom Wilkins resulted in a contender for ?try of the season? as he gathered his own kick to score in the corner and put Okehampton back in the lead. That was to be Okehampton?s last score as Launceston were able to by-pass the strength of the Okehampton pack and and score a couple of long range tries and a penalty kick to wrap up what seemed an unlikely win at the start.
