Okehampton A 3

Camborne School Of Mines 1

From the start Okehampton hockey team played the ball around the field stretching the Camborne players. With the midfield of Darrin Reed, Chris Searle and Dave Hanks working hard, it was only a matter of time before Okehampton's first goal came from a short corner, which Nick Luxton slotted home.

Camborne tried to pressure Okehampton by pushing players high but the defence coped well, with the midfield helping when the visitors pushed players high. This left the Camborne defence open to Okehampton and with excellent movement of the ball between the midfield and winger Nick Luxton saw Adam Cocklaye put Okehampton's second goal away

The second half saw Camborne pushing hard, but Okehampton worked hard as a team to keep them at bay. A further goal by Toby Lloyd, who kept his cool on a rebound from the keeper, to gave Okehampton their third goal.

Camborne never gave up trying and scored from a short corner but Okehampton always had the upper hand by working well as a team.

Oke man of the match was Chris Searle.

Plymouth Marjons D 0

Okehampton 4

OKEHAMPTON went into their away game full of confidence after their impressive victory last week. They took the game to Marjons and created the first chance when Josh Speak found Mark Parsons, who hit a shot against the post.

Continuing to dominate proceedings they went close again before an excellent passing move between Luke Miller, Stuart Jarvis and Parsons resulted in an easy finish for Simon Bourne.

Parsons was then found by James Rogers and his run and pass was just missed by Bourne before Okehampton doubled their advantage, when right back Dave Dennis had a fine run and placed his shot into the bottom corner.

The home side did look threatening on the break, but Okehampton should really have had more goals at half-time, with Parsons missing several good chances.

The second half began scrappily with no team really taking possession of the ball.

Okehampton then lost their captain to injury which resulted in a reshuffle of personnel. Not be be affected, they continued to run the midfield and with Miller, Speak and Rogers distributing the ball wide Okehampton looked the most likely to score a third.

Eventually Oke's persistence paid off when Parsons' shot was superbly saved by the Marjons' goalkeeper, only for Bourne to react quickest and fire in his second. Parsons then rounded the goalkeeper to give them a fourth, and also found Jarvis unmarked at the far post, only so see Jarvis's shot cleared off the line moments later.

Marjons tired and Okehampton pressed as hard as they could, spraying the ball around and creating opportunities at will.

Rogers shot just wide and Bourne had a couple of chances for his hat-trick. If it hadn't been for the home side's goalkeeper Okehampton would have got into double figures.

Next week they host second place Dart A.

Man of the match: James Rogers.
