Okehampton Ladies 10 Paignton Ladies Seconds 2 THE score did not truly reflect the many chances that Okehampton had to score. Paignton?s hard working goalie was assisted by balls hitting the posts, stopping on the line or skimming right across the circle. Okehampton took the opportunity of a team weakened by losing players going to university to try out several new tactics. Thanks were given to regular coach Richard Jones ? his work is really showing dividends this season. The first two goals were by captain Alex Collins doing sterling work in the unfamiliar role of left wing. Andrew Finley, as a guest coach, had suggested different approaches to short corners and one came off splendidly with Jane Jones at left half scoring a cracking third goal for Okehampton. Jo Moppett scored two goals to end the first half 5-0 to Okehampton. Paignton came back bravely after half time. They were dangerous on the break on the rare occasions they had got through the excellent blocking of halves, Jane Jones, Abi Colton and Claire Smith. The Oke backs, particularly Sandy Douglas, kept them out on most occasions. Despite the balance of play, Paignton scored twice in the second half. Jo continued to practise different approaches and by the end of the game she had scored seven goals through a mixture of blasts, dribbles, crosses and even a wobble. l Next week Okehampton Ladies are at home to St Austell with a 2.30pm start.
