THE good form of the ladies of Okehampton Golf Club continued this week and this time it was the league team, playing Bigbury at home. Lin Atkinson was out first and she won her match 6-5; this was the start of a wonderful day for the team, with Kath Mansell winning 7-5, Mary Keir 6-5, Trish Vick 5-3, team captain Kay King 6-5 and Jane Warren winning 5-4. This 12-0 points victory keeps up the Okehampton ladies hopes of reaching the finals. Wednesday was a qualifying medal for the ladies and though most of the players found the conditions difficult, Lyn Hazelton won the silver division with an excellent score of gross 86 net 69. In second place was Marcia Holwill gross 81, 72 and third Penny Deakin 90, 75. The bronze division was won by Sally Griffin net 76, second Maureen Howe net 82 and third was Maureen Willcocks net 83. It stayed mostly dry on Saturday for the men, also playing a qualifying medal, with the players appreciating the drier conditions the competition was very close and most of the placings were decided on back nine countback. Winning division one was Phil Atherton gross 78 net 65 on back nine countback from Graham Moysey; second, gross 76, 65. Third was Malcolm Hooper gross 75, 66 again on countback from Steve Hill gross 72, 66 in fourth place. Division Two was won by Neil Penfold gross 77, 63 on countback from Graham Milford gross 80, 63 in second place. Third was Bob Davies 82, 65 on back nine from Matt Milford 80,65. Andy Stevens, gross 88 net 63, won division three. Second was Rich Camies 86, 66, third was Dave Grimes 89, 67 on back nine from Dave Turner 88 also net 67.
