THE Devon Wado-Ryu Karate-Do Kai's annual one day Spring course and Kyu grading was held at the Eastern Arts Centre, Barnstaple, North Devon. Among the 60 members who attended from all over Devon were a group from Okehampton Dojo. Instruction was led by sensei Peter Hill, sixth Dan and assisted by Matthew Soanes, third Dan, and Andy Kilby, second Dan. The following Okehampton members were promoted — to ninth Kyu: Elisa Nightingale, William Cassels, Alfred Cassels, Adrian Clare and Paul Lucette (Okehampton Dojo); seventh Kyu: Adrian Voaden; fourth Kyu: Mark Preece. Certificates will be presented to the above named members by the chief instructor in Europe for authentic Wado-Ryu Karate-Do, by Sensei M Shiomitsum, ninth Dan Hanshi Shihan at his next visit to the Devon Wado-Ryu Karate-Do Kai in Barnstaple next month.
