OKEHAMPTON Argyle were without a match last Saturday, but the other two men's teams were in action and both recorded good wins.

At Simmons Park, the Reserves were home to Newtown thirds in Devon and Exeter division four. Okehampton dominated the match and ran out comfortable 4-0 winners with goals from Chris Hollands (2), Ricky Drew and Rob Clarke.

Credit is due to Nic Pollard who did a good job of managing the team in the absence of usual boss Martyn Taylor.

The Reserves are now sitting in a comfortable mid-table position with seven wins and seven losses so far, but the league is so tight that a promotion position is still a possibility if they can put a good string of results together.

Argyle thirds had an excellent win 2-0 away to fellow promotion chasers Topsham Town fourths. Manager Paul Yip praised all his squad for a great team performance.

The goals were both scored by substitutes – brothers Callum and Brad Ausden. Callum scored with his first kick of the match.

The thirds are handily placed in third position in Devon and Exeter eight with games in hand on the two teams above and have 11 wins and only 1 defeat in the league this season.

This Saturday, the firsts were due to play Carlsberg South West Peninsula West league leaders Camelford, but the visitors must now play a postponed Cornwall Senior Cup tie. Instead Argyle will meet fast improving Truro City Reserves at Simmons Park.

n This Saturday's fixtures are: Carlsberg South West Peninsula League: Okehampton Argyle v Truro City Reserves 3pm; the Devon and Exeter division eight, Argyle thirds v Met Office 3pm.
