Sidbury Utd 1

Chagford 1

WITH a third draw in a row, Chagford return to third place but are now looking anxiously over their shoulders at the chasing pack. Just three points separate the firsts from the following five teams immediately below.

In a game described as open, Chagford took the early initiative against a young Sidbury team and created well from the midfield. Steve Kinsey was proved the eventual beneficiary, rifling his shot home from the edge of the box.

Play continued to sway between the teams until Mark Li pounced to gobble up a half chance, as Chagford failed to clear their lines just before half-time.

Despite second half changes, the visitors were restricted to the minimum of chances. Chris Wills came on to make a comfortable debut and will be a useful addition to the squad. With time running out, Chagford thought they had won the match. Davis was fed well by Jerome Whatley, skipped past the home 'keeper and then saw his goal wiped out by an offside flag.

Chagford must turn these draws into wins, if they are to sustain a promotion challenge, starting with visit of second placed East Budleigh this Saturday at 3pm.

Chagford reserves 3

UaU Exeter FC 4

PLAYING their first match in three weeks, Chagford reserves looked rusty in most departments until after half-time.

When the Exeter side took an early two goal lead it did not bode well for the hosts. David Jordan pulled a goal back for the hosts but UaU netted a third before the break.

When James Hambly came on for Adrian Harvey and fired in Chagford's second, things looking up for the team. Will Hutchison poached an equaliser and it seemed Chagford were going to salvage a point, if not more. However, UaU had the last word with a late winner, Chagford suffering a third successive defeat.

The reserves seem unable to play consistently well through each match and, until they achieve this, life will continue to be difficult.
