WEST?Devon borough and town councillors recently visited the Tavistock Area Support Services luncheon club to see the newly developed kitchen at the Anchorage Centre.
Grants from the borough and town councils as well as lots of fundraising by TASS volunteers enabled the charity to install a better equipped kitchen and relay a new floor in the hall.
Devon County Councillor for Tavistock Debo Sellis, Devon County Councillor for Yelverton Rural, West Devon Borough Councillor and Tavistock Town Councillor Philip Sanders and Tavistock Town mayor Anne Johnson visited the Anchorage Centre during the regular luncheon club to see the new facilities.
Cllr Sellis said: 'TASS does such a fantastic job, it is great that we were able to put some of the Locality Budget into this great cause.'
The new facilities will be of benefit to all the groups that use the Anchorage Centre and means more people can use the centre.
Manager at TASS Andy Lyle said: 'This makes a huge difference because we can now serve more meals, and anyone who uses it now has full kitchen facilities. It means more people are able to use it and it makes life easier for the volunteers.'
Cllr Sanders said: 'This centre provides a facility for people not just in Tavistock but the surrounding villages as well. It provides an enormous benefit to everyone and I am happy to support it. It is absolutely fantastic.'
