ON the road leading down to Buckland Monachorum, by Crapstone Barton the very large pot-hole has re-appeared. One therefore assumes the patch-up made recently was inferior, probably done on the cheap.

Can I ask the Highways Department to make an effective repair this time? Also, they may wish to look at our speed calming measures. The number of pot-holes, cracks and gullies on the road leading past Hill View makes this almost an obstacle course for drivers.

On another totally different matter, regarding the re-opening of the railway line from Bere Alston to Tavistock, which I hope is successful, may I point out that it is five miles, not nine kilometres. Our railways, and roads for that matter, are measured in miles, not this unwanted metric system being forced upon us.
