WAY back at the beginning of May when it was still summer, the Bere Alstonians turned out to cheer on the carnival procession and to enjoy a lovely May Day fair. Many also attended the ever popular bingo evening, and this year?s cabaret night was a sell out. The committee would like to thank everyone for their help and support. Running carnival week is a costly business, but we managed to have a small profit at the end which will pay for the hanging baskets soon to be seen in Fore Street and also the Christmas trees which will take their place later in the year. We also hope that all the village organisations that ran fundraising tables or games during the May Day were able to go home content with the day?s income. It would be wonderful to enjoy an even better carnival in 2007 and so we urge those who live in and around Bere Alston to start working on their floats now along the theme of ?All Things Bright and Beautiful?.
