MID Devon Pony Club's novice mini tetrathlon team rode brilliantly on Sunday to win the team prize at the Spooners PC's annual tetrathon. The team of Adam Stanton, Charly Mould, Thomas Bayley and George Jeffery had finished the first day's competition in third place thanks mainly to some fine running, with Adam having the best run in the class and Charly knocking 24 seconds off her personal best. The novice course at Sampford Spiney proved quite testing with only seven clear rounds from 24 competitors and with Adam, Charly and George all going clear and Thomas having one unlucky stop, the team swept into first place. Adam starred, winning the class and Charly finished just out of the rosettes in seventh place. The novice junior team of Kim Stanton, Jessica Jeffery, Tiffany Parrott and Millie Lawrence all produced solid scores which saw the team finish in third place. Millie was competing for the first time and did really well in the shoot while Jessica shot a PB score. The outdoor pool proved quite bracing, but Kim finished with the third best swim. Their riding course also proved daunting with only one clear round in the class. Kim did well to finish with just a few faults at the slip rail, while Tiffany had just one stop and Millie two. Kim kept up the family honour, finishing the class in fifth place, while Tiffany was just out of the ribbons in eighth.
