BERE had to battle hard for all three points. The football was not pretty and on a sloping pitch with a strong breeze there was no room for tactics.
Both teams got stuck in. James Aggiss was a handful for Fowey and was manhandled to the ground as he was free to score. Mark Wheeler coolly slotted home the penalty.
The second half was minutes in when Fowey equalised. Bere?s keeper failed to leave his line to gather the ball. Bere stormed back and Fowey?s keeper produced many fine saves.
A Tommy Rowlinson corner was hit with pace and with Steve Daymond hovering a Fowey defender put it into his own net.
Bere should have wrapped up the game, but Fowey?s keeper was inspired and one double save summed up his ability.
Bere defended doggedly for the last ten minutes. Steve Vanstone produced a match winning tackle after the ball broke loose and he flew in to save Bere.
This Saturday Duchy division 1 away to Newmoor, 2pm kick-off.
