Axminster Ladies 6

Tavistock Ladies AFC 2

TAVISTOCK Ladies AFC have faced an unlucky start to this season as a result of injuries, and this week served the team no favours as the ladies made the lengthy journey to Axminster with only ten players.

Unfortunately the West Devon team were beaten 6-2 and despite inconsistency in their performance during the first half, the ladies displayed their 'never say die' team spirit as they attempted a second-half come back.

Jess Turner and Ali Hurley put in an exceptional performance in midfield, with goals scored by Robyn Hammond and Katie Glasspoole and several near misses by Beccy Gordon.

Kirsty Jones' stoic performance further enhanced the quality of Tavistock's game, and there were some great saves by mid-fielder Rachael Kelly in her role as temporary keeper.

With the team's determination their fortunes are surely due to turn.
