IT will soon be that time of year again when Okehampton will 'show' off all it has to offer. The annual meeting of the Okehampton and District Agricultural Show was held at the end of February at Sourton Village Hall. Last year's show was cancelled due to wet weather so the current president, Derek Webber, and president elect, Peter Green, were re-elected for this coming year. At the meeting, Peter Balsom presented the 2007 accounts, prepared by Simpkins Edwards accountants, to the executive committee for approval. Due to the cancellation of last year's show a substantial loss of £33,360 was incurred but careful stewardship has enabled the show to absorb the loss from reserves. The high quality of the show and the showground will be maintained. The show has a good reputation and 85% of the trade stand bookings for 2007 were retained for this year. This year's show will take place on Thursday August 14.
