ON a freezing cold day against the wind North Tawton put the pressure on from the start, with good rucking by the pack.

The first try came in the first minute by captain Clare Hooper. This was shortly followed by Lucy Cleave to score one of her two tries.

Good tackling by Tawton's backs saw Dorchester make plenty of errors, one of which saw Tawton full-back Charlotte Castles run from deep to score under the posts twice.

The second half again was all Tawton forwards and backs mauling with determination not to let the visitors score.

Paula Honey Churchann secured good lineout ball and popped it to Lyndsey Prout to power over. The try was converted by Jo Jones.

With ten minutes left Tawton still wanted more, with two breakaway tries by scrum-half Jo Jones — which she duly converted.

The last play of the game saw the ball played by nearly all the Tawton players until Jo McBain bulldozed over in the corner.

This was a good team performance by North Tawton. Their next game is away in the league to Chipping Sodbury on February 15.
