TAW Valley Creamery in North Tawton secured a ?tremendous ten? at last week?s World Cheese Awards. Taw Valley Creamery achieved four golds, two silvers and four bronzes at the awards held at the IFE 2005 last week. And it was a good night for the creamery?s parent firm, The Cheese Company, which won 15 prizes. The majority of the North Tawton operation?s wins were awarded for its range of excellent mature cheddars with mature, medium and mild cheddar recipes winning gold and silvers; gold and bronze for its Double Gloucester; and bronze for its Vintage Cheddar, Leicester cheese and Hard Pressed cheese. Neil Kennedy, managing director of The Cheese Company, said: ?We were up against some very tough competition, and our cheeses performed brilliantly on the world stage. ?The Cheese Company is in an excellent position to improve even further on this success and we will continue to make high quality cheeses at our production facilities across the UK for everyone to enjoy. Congratulations to everybody involved.? The Cheese Company is the UK?s second largest cheese producer, manufacturing more than 20 varieties of cheddars, Blue Stiltons and British regional cheeses for the retail, food service and ingredients sector. The Cheese Company was formed in April 2004 through the creation of a new joint venture company by Milk Link, the leading farmer-owned integrated dairy business, and Glanbia plc.
