NORTH Hill suffered their first defeat in their league campaign this season by this visit, thanks in no small part to Mary Tavy's central defender Shaun James who struck all three goals in a well contested match.
The first half saw North Hill start the livelier but good defending and sound keeping by Simon Dundrow-Smith thwarted the home attack.
The breakthrough came midway into the half with James converting from close range.
With a goal advantage and the run of the gentle slope in the second half, Mary Tavy looked to increase their lead but were taken back by an unfortunate handball by Johns and the equaliser came from the spot.
Within minutes James restored the lead from a corner and Mary Tavy were awarded a penalty of their own after persevering runs from Mark Piper. James made no mistake from the spot to claim his hat-trick sending the keeper the wrong way and ensuring three away points.
