A FORMER Tavistock College student will be walking for seven days to raise money for charity in a non-stop relay race.
Janette Pattinson, 32, will be walking from Newcastle to Plymouth on May 17 as part of a team for the Non-Stop Relay Walk. The funds she raises will support Devon Air Ambulance and The Macmillan Nurses.
This is not the first time Janette has undergone such a challenge. Last year she walked from London to Plymouth. Unfortunately her mother Janet Mashford, who runs Tavistock Computers and Training in the Pannier Market, had her shop broken into and as well as losing equipment, a collection box for Janette's walk was also taken.
After hearing about the stolen collection box, many people came forward to help Janette with her fundraising giving donations and staff from Bob's Café in the market gave her all their tips. She managed to raise £250.
Janette hopes to raise lots of money again this year and will be keeping people up to date on her progress during the walk by email and text. Anyone who would like to receive these updates can pop into Tavistock Computers and Training and sign up to the list. Anyone who would like to donate can also do so at the shop.
Janette expressed thanks to everyone who is helping and encouraging her and her team.
