NOMINATIONS are being sought for an award which recognises people and projects that have made a substantial contribution to conservation, enjoyment and sustainability within the Dartmoor National Park.

The Edward Morshead Award 2008 is open to projects which have played a part in landscape, ecological, archaeological or cultural conservation, enjoyment and understanding of the national park or met the needs of the local community through sustainable development.

Nominations can also be made for outstanding individual, or corporate, contributions to Dartmoor.

In addition, the Dartmoor Preservation Association will offer a special recognition of outstanding conservation work carried out by young people less than 21 years old.

Previous winners have included Dartmoor farmer David Norrish for the high quality restoration of the late medieval farmhouse, Addislade at Dean Prior near Buckfastleigh and Heatree Activity Centre near Manaton for the reconstruction of a Bronze Age round house for the teaching of sustainable living.

All entries must relate to the two years prior to the closing date of January 16.

For further information contact Mike Nendick at Dartmoor National Park on 01626 831045.
