TWO of the three wards that make up Tavistock Town Council will not see an election next month. Candidates in the Tavistock north ward and the south west ward have been returned unopposed. But there will be a poll in the town's south ward, where nine candidates are chasing one of the seven seats up for grabs. They are (Independent unless otherwise stated): Mandy Govier, Conservative; Chris Jenkins, Conservative; Jenny Metcalf; Philip Sanders, Conservative; Debo Sellis, Local Conservative; Ted Sherrell; Martin Taylor, Liberal Democrat; Brian Trew; Graham Turner, Liberal Democrat. And there are elections in the following parishes: Mary Tavy ( 9 seats) — Maurice Anning; Cheryl Downham; Ruth Elton; George Hill; Peter Jarvis; Terry Pearce; Mike Perkins; Anita Prosser; Martin Robins; Mike Roe; Sarah Street; Michael Wilson. Peter Tavy (7 seats) — Colin Abel; Max Allen; Patrick Cashell; Peter Clarke; Edward Dodd; James Jeffery; William Lane; Alison Skillicorn; Derek Skillicorn. Polling day is Thursday, May 3. In the following parishes, candidates were returned unopposed so there will be no election: Bere Ferrers, Brentor, Buckland Monachorum (Buckland Harrowbeer), Buckland Monachorum (Buckland Village), Coryton, Dartmoor Forest (Huccaby Ward), Dartmoor Forest (Postbridge Ward), Dartmoor Forest (Princetown Ward), Dunterton, Gulworthy, Horrabridge, Lamerton, Lewtrenchard, Lifton, Lydford, Marystow, Meavy Dousland, Meavy Village, Meeth, Milton Abbot (Chillaton Ward), Milton Abbot (Ward), Sampford Spiney, Sheepstor, Stowford, Sydenham Damerel, Thrushelton, Walkhampton Dousland, Walkhampton Village and Whitchurch.
