PEOPLE spending Christmas Day alone are being invited to enjoy lunch and entertainment hosted by the Salvation Army and Tavistock's United Reformed Church in Russell Street.
This will the third year a Christmas Day lunch has been organised by the two organisations.
Anyone wishing to attend will be transported from their home to the church for 11.30am for tea or coffee and entertainment until lunch time when they will be served with a traditional turkey dinner and Christmas pudding.
After lunch there will be more entertainment until the Queen's message at 3pm. At around 4pm, after another drink, a mince-pie or piece of Christmas cake will be handed out with a party-bag.
The Rev Roger Cornish, Major Carol Lockhart and Captain Penny Sullivan expressed thanks to everyone for their generosity as this has enabled the day to be free to all.
Booking is essential as numbers are limited.
This event is being supported by volunteers, businesses and churches. More helpers are needed. Anyone who would like to help with a donation, offers of food, entertainment, or help on the day, should call Mr Cornish on 01822 614613 by the end of November.
