POLICE have been refused permission to use Tavistock's Guildhall Square Car Park as part of their open day on Saturday, September 5.
Members of the properties committee of Tavistock Town Council last week heard that the police and other services are holding the open day on Bedford Square and had asked if they could also use the Guildhall car park to allow the parking of more vehicles and displays.
Members heard the use of the car park would cost the council a maximum of £151 and there were concerns about the lost use to members of the public on such a busy day of the week.
It was recommended by six votes to one, with one abstention, that the request be denied.
The decision was due to be ratified by the full council at its meeting on Tuesday.
