Carlsberg South Western League Tavistock 1 Truro City 2 TRURO City came to Langsford Park needing all three points to secure second spot in their quest to progress up the League pyramid system. But the Lambs were in no mood to lie down and put in a battling display that almost spoilt City?s night. Kevin Wills shot straight at Meeds in the opening minutes before John Morris volleyed wide and it was he who was fouled on 15 minutes just outside the area to allow Chris Menhenick the audacity to put the Lambs ahead with a sweet free kick that left Dan Stevenson static. There was not too much further goalmouth action in the first half and the Lambs fully deserved to go in at the interval one up. Again there was not a lot of action at the start of the second half with the visitors getting rather anxious as all three points looked to be slipping away from them. The game finally came alive with 20 minutes remaining. Tavistock?s Will Stringer caught sub Stewart Yetton just outside the area and consequently suffered a nasty leg injury that required an ambulance to take him to hospital. After a lengthy stoppage it was Johnny Ludlam that scraped Meeds? cross bar with his free kick. Two minutes later Truro found themselves back on level terms with the Lambs under severe pressure conceding a penalty for ex Lambs Andy Bowker to send his spot kick down the middle and into the net. The Lambs finally succumbed with just minutes remaining when Glynn Hooper outjumped the Lambs? defence to head home from close range to give the visitors a hard earned victory. Team, Andy Meeds, James Steer, Chris Menhenick, Chris Short , Mike Arscott, Nigel Pugh, Shane Krac (sub Lee Howells 40m) Sean Cann, Will Westlake(sub Stefan Kelly 88m) John Morris, Will Stringer (sub Mark Conday 70m) sub not used Dave Hallett.
