RECENTLY introduced parking charges do not apply to people using the recycling point in the Leg O' Mutton car park in Yelverton, the landowners have confirmed.

The Maristowe Estate said there were double yellow lines in front of the recycling bins to stop people parking there — it was a drop-off point only.

There has been some confusion over whether people have to pay to spend a couple of minutes parked up to unload their bottles and newspapers etc.

Maristowe spokesman Joseph Hess said: 'I believe the signs have made it quite clear that in the car park itself a pay and display charging zone applies. There is no parking in front of the bins but people can use it to drop off their recycling.

'The double yellow lines are there to stop drivers parking when people need access to the bins and to the Yelverton Playpark area.'
