Tavistock Ladies 1st XI 3

Bude 2nds XI 1

WITH only nine players Tavistock team knew they were going to have to work hard, despite being two leagues above the opposition.

The game opened with Tavistock making good passes and switching the ball from right to left. Susannah Boulle and Fiona Dunn had numerous good runs, allowing the strong forward play of Emma White and Jo Gaspar to take shots at the keeper. Lisa Butler was strong on the left wing and it was not long before she scored the first goal.

Laura Armstrong had an excellent game, playing with determination and 100% effort. The opposition entered the D on two occasions, but goalkeeper, Zoe Viggers prevented them from scoring.

The opening minutes of the second half saw a stronger Bude and Tavistock, being two players down and tired from the first half, let their guard down and allowed them to equalise.

Boulle had defended well when Viggers went down but was unable to stop the bombardment from Bude.

Tavistock picked up their game. White battled well and Armstrong hit some lovely balls across to Gaspar who was unable to make something of them.

Bude came down the pitch in another attack but were defeated by Wallace who was steadfast in defence and cleared a shot on goal.

Dunn drove the ball into the D and crossed it across in the hope it would be slotted in. With the ball in the attacking area, Tavistock applied pressure and White through determination and battling hooked the ball in the goal despite it being kept under the keeper?s kickers.

Dunn intercepted a free hit and passed the ball to White who crossed it to Gaspar to hit it past the keeper.
