THE fourth meeting of the Westward League was held on Sunday at Bideford in bright but cold weather. Tavistock Athletic Club were well represented with nine athletes competing at the event.

The first race of the day was the senior ladies which saw Karen Ballentyne finishing in a good 52nd place.

In the under 13 girls' race Emma Passmore ran well to record her best ever finish in the league in 11th place.

Kayleigh Wonnacott, making her first appearance in the league this season, also had a good race finishing in 16th place.

In the under 13 boys' event Alex Richards ran with growing confidence to finish in 17th place.

In the under 15 boys' race Paul Rowe and Adam Tofield were again representing the Tavistock club.

The field included a number of new faces to the league and the start of the race was particularly fast and frantic.

Paul Rowe fought hard to stay with the front runners and finished in a creditable fifth place. Adam Tofield showed his consistent form finishing in 17th place.

In the senior men's race, Steve Groombridge ran strongly to finish in the top 20 coming home in 19th place, with Robin Musgrave finishing in 44th place.

Tim Gent also had a good race finishing in 48th place and ensuring all the Tavistock runners finished in the top fifty.
