RESIDENTS of the Chagford area are being invited to take part in an evening of traditional African dance. 

Local couple Denise Rowe and Kennedy Chinyere are hosting a night of Zimbabwean mbira music and dance in Chagford on Sunday, January 29. 

Kennedy Chinyere recently arrived in Chagford from Zimbabwe after fighting to gain a UK spouse visa for 16 months. He and his wife met through their mutual love of mbira music and dance.

The evening they will be hosting is called Bira Re Mhondoro, and will include sacred mbira music, traditionally played for night ceremonies to connect people with the spirits of their ancestors.
