THE Tavistock AFC annual dinner/dance took place at The Astor Hotel on the Plymouth Hoe on Saturday. Guest of Honour was the President, Member of Parliament for West Devon and Torridge Geoffrey Cox and wife Jeannie along with Secretary of the South Western League Phil Lowe and partner Sabrina. Chairman Derek Pethick spoke about the season and highlighted the F A Vase Cup run that saw the club reach the last 32 having started in the second qualifying round and thanked players, supporters and committee for all their efforts. Geoffrey Cox congratulated the club. Phil Lowe presented Carlsberg managers Ian Southcott and Craig Smith with photographic memories of the two FA Vase away trips to Deal and Pickering. Mike Arscott picked up both Carlsberg Player of the Year and also the Supporters? Player of the Year Trophy. Mark Conday was the Carlsberg leading goal scorer and also picked up the George Witchell trophy for leading club scorer. Mick Piper was presented with the Bedford Chairman?s Cup and Ian and Craig also received the Bedford Cup. Under 18s leading scorer Darren Phillips; Devon Junior Minor Player of the Year, Ian Grey; The young Player of the Year John Francis; Plymouth & West Devon Leading Scorer Craig Hodge; Carlsberg Leading Scorer Mark Conday; George Witchell Memorial for Leading Club Scorer Mark Conday; The Ron Bowman Trophy for services to the Club John Batten and Russell Bartlett; The Chairman?s Player of the Year Will Stringer; The Plymouth & West Devon League Player of the Year Adrian Payne; The Alf Seeley Award Supporters Player of the Year Mike Arscott; The Carlsberg Player of the Year Mike Arscott. Ladies section: Team awards went to Louise Galway, Monica Les, Gemma Laird, & Rachel Kelly. Most improved player Laura Philip; Most Lady of the match award Kirsty Jones; Managers Player of the year Julie O?Keefe; Players Player of the season Julie O? Keefe & Kirsty Jones. The President?s Cup for Services to the Club went to groundsman Chris Hurford. Bouquets were presented to the President?s wife Jeannie, the chairman?s wife Yvonne and to the Red & Black manageress June Smith in appreciation.
