STEVE Metters returned to the manager's post as stand-in for the unavailable Steve Hart and was pleased with the way the Lambs came back from 3-1 down to deservedly share the points.

The visitors took the lead in the 44th minute when Paul Mildon headed in at the far post.

On the stroke of half-time there was a floodlight failure and it looked as if the game might have to be abandoned. But order was restored after a short delay and it was the Lambs who came out switched on at the start of the second half - within two minutes they were back on level terms.

John Gosling was hauled down in the area by Ian Treverton and up stepped Andy Parnowski to send James Dungey the wrong way.

Jeff Babb volleyed home after 57 minutes and eight minutes later the Lambs looked dead and buried when Mike Roberts took advantage of a defensive error to slot home from an acute angle.

The Lambs had beaten the visitors in both the league and cup already this season and were in no mood to give up their unbeaten run against them. At 75 minutes the comeback started.

Craig Hodge's persistence allowed the ball to go to Mark Wall to send Gosling down the wing and cross at the far post for George Pitts to head home. Five minutes later they were back on level terms when Jon Nichols fired in low from 20 yards past a helpless Dungey.

A great comeback from one and two down after the recent disappointments of going out of two cup competitions.

Team: Andy Meeds, John Gosling, John Nichols, Lee Beer, Craig Hodge, Andy Parnowski, Chris Gott, Mark Wall, George Pitts, Chris Kiely, Dean Tongue.

STEVE Hart returned to the managerial seat after missing the mid-week game and at the end was left wondering how it remained scoreless.

Penzance penned the Lambs back in their half for the first ten minutes. There were two penalty appeals by them in the opening minutes and Dave Burt shot wide then headed at Andy Meeds from a corner.

The Lambs' first attack came after 12 minutes and almost brought a goal. John Gosling got to the byline and his low cross was met by George Pitts who shot for Dean Tongue to have the last touch but sent it over the bar from six yards.

Burt was again guilty of a missed chance when he headed at Meeds from close range and Pitts headed wide from a Tongue cross.

The Lambs opened up the Magpies defence just prior to half-time with a sweeping move and the visitors' keeper Dennis Annear just got a hand to Chris Kiely's lob to prevent it going into the net.

In the second half Tavistock's Andy Parnowski sliced wide from a corner, Burt hit a post when clean through and Gosling was unlucky when from a Tongue cross his goalbound drive just clipped a defender to go for a corner.

Matt George had the ball in the home net after 80 minutes from a free kick but it was disallowed with three players in offside positions.

Team: Andy Meeds, John Gosling, Jon Nichols, Lee Beer, Craig Hodge, Andy Parnowski, Chris Gott, Mark Wall (sub Tony Cusack 70m), George Pitts, Dean Tongue. Subs not used: Ben Rowe, Richard Searle, Adrian Payne, Darren Babb.

n Tavistock AFC is grateful to chairman David Rowe who organised a pool, darts and football quiz last Thursday involving teams from Tavistock committee, Jewson Squad, P & D Squad, The Vets, The Ladies, U18s, Tavistock Jets committee and Tavistock Thistles committee.

The pool and darts were based on the best of three legs/games with a value of ten points with the winners of each round progressing to the finals.

Tavistock Jets and the P& D squad battled out the darts with the Jets side taking the honours 2-1. The Ladies and the P& D squad made it to the pool final where the P & D side scraped through 2-1.

The quiz was a 40 question one with 10 points for every correct answer and the Jewson Squad amassed 320 points out of a possible 400 to secure the trophy.

A good evening was had by all and it helped cement further relationships with the various footballing sections associated with Tavistock AFC.
