TAVISTOCK travelled to Newton Abbot to find, on arrival, the home side with only eight of its own players, making it impossible to play the league match.
Several Tavistock players were unavailable due to the foot and mouth crisis, but they did field a full team, even though several had to play out of position.
Tavistock outplayed Newton Abbot in the first half, due to the hard work of the pack, resulting in a fairly quick try by Jackie High who powered over the line from a couple of yards.
Tavistock held their own in the scrummaging with Clair Kelly having an excellent game, hooking for the firs time and Becka Hutton on the flank showing what a versatile player she is.
Newton Abbot evened the score with a breakaway try which was then converted. Tavistock scored a second try shortly before half time with an excellent break by Wiz Francis who drove over the line to score.
