Tavistock Ladies 1st XI 6 Newton Abbot 0 TAVISTOCK made good runs up the pitch, creating space for the ball to be fed into among the opposition. Robynne Honey worked hard and hit good balls across the circle for Judy Miller and Julia Firth to get on the end of. When the ball was intercepted, Emma White was quick to make the tackle and regain possession. With Fiona Dunn and Jo Gaspar in defence the ball was hardly ever brought into the defensive circle and the odd time it did goalkeeper Bex Creasy kept her cool and cleared it safely. Sarah Barratt was working hard on the left but could not find a way past the opposition. Laura Stapleton and Lisa Butler worked well in midfield and created good switching of the ball. The first goal came from White. The ball was rebounded and White took it in and played a cracking shot neatly past the keeper. Tavistock changed their play and worked more as a team with strong positional play. Honey scored the second goal as she took the ball into the D, parallel to the base line and slotted it home. In the second-half Sue Gawman had a better game and worked tirelessly through midfield. Honey scored her second goal and it was not long before Miller battled well to score the fourth for Tavistock. Dunn kept pushing up the pitch to support the midfield and with Butler and Stapleton also pushing, when the opposition did get the ball they were swamped by Tavistock players. Miller scored the next two goals, making her hat-trick. This week Tavistock play Plym Valley at Lipson at 10.30am.
