THREE locals from the Bere Ferrers parish entered the Cornwall Garden Society's Spring Flower Show held at the Boconnoc Estate recently, and received many awards.

Dr Frances Howard took first in class 106, three different daffodils, a first in class 107, historical varieties, with David Pearce also gaining second and highly commended in class 107.

Dr Howard also gained another first in section E daffodils class 105, novice, one stem of any variety.

Colin Street was awarded three thirds for class 102 miniature narcissi, class 79 division 3 and class 89 division 8 Tazetta; his successful exhibits being green pearl and Dan du Plessis respectively.

Flushed with success they are already planning next year's entries.

They are all keen exhibitors at the Bere Ferrers Spring Flower Show, so are widening their horizons and blazing a trail in a neighbouring county.

LENT lunches were enjoyed in Bere Ferrers during the six weeks leading to Easter, organised by Mrs Daphne McDonald and her team.

A splendid sum of £483.45 was made which will be divided between Christian Aid and the Shekinhar Mission.

Thanks were expressed to all who came and supported the event.
