THE 'Butlin Blue' was officially named and launched on Roadford Lake last week. The stable Drascombe Lugger boat is suitable for use by people of all abilities and is available to hire from Roadford Angling and Watersports Centre. The boat was purchased following a major fundraising concert — 'Stars under the Stars' — organised by South West Lakes Trust at Roadford's Lakeside Restaurant and Function Suite. The launch ceremony was performed by Sonia Meaden, a trustee of the Butlin Trust, which was a major contributor to the event. Trustees, friends of the trust and staff of South West Lakes Trust were joined by ten young people from the Castle Unit, Launceston College to sail on Butlin Blue's maiden voyage on the lake. Vera Jefferson, head of Castle Area Resource Base at Launceston College said: 'The young people have all really enjoyed themselves today. It's a chance to get out on the water and to take part in an activity they may not have had the opportunity to do otherwise.'
