TAVISTOCK'S amateur theatre company, The Tavonians, will be launching a series of open workshops next week, teaching various theatre skills.

The 12 workshops cover a range of skills vital to theatre and helpful in everyday life using movement, voice and imagination to communicate.

The workshops are in three monthly blocks. The January workshops, on the theme 'creation' will be held on Thursday January 20 and Friday January 21 at 7.30pm in the Guild Hall, and a morning and afternoon session on Saturday January 22 at 10am and 1.30pm at the Tavistock United Reformed Church Hall.

Chair Ali Fife said: 'It is not just for Tavonians members, but for anyone interested in theatre or wanting to try out something new.'

Anyone aged 16 to 80 can attend the workshops, which cost £5 or less per workshop due to a grant from West Devon Borough Council.

Booking is advisable, with discounts for multiple sessions booked at least a week in advance.
