CHANGES could be in the pipeline for environmental group WestDEN, which is due to hold its annual meeting next month.

The organisation, which now employs more than 20 staff and has a turnover of some £350,000, agreed at a recent trustees' meeting that structural changes would open up other avenues of income and achieve better protection for its trustees.

The proposal is to become a charitable company limited by guarantee, and to create a trading subsidiary.

The trustees believe this move will provide WestDEN with a more stable future and may even increase job opportunities.

The proposals will be put at the annual meeting held at the Guide Hall in Tavistock on Thursday September 19 at 7.30pm.

Following the debate there will be a chance to hear marine biologist Mike Whitfield give a talk on 'Island Communities: St Kilda — sustainability or subsistence'.
