I READ that consultation is under way to create a Stroke Rehabilitation Unit.

The Mid Devon Primary Care Trust is suggesting that the 10 bed unit could be accommodated by taking beds from two wards at Crediton Hospital.

Sue Moreton, the Stroke Care Co-ordinator, is reported to have said that if the beds were full, general care patients would be accommodated at Tiverton or Okehampton.

Is Ms Moreton not aware that when the new hospital at Okehampton was opened, it reduced the bed space from the previous levels at the two former hospitals in the town? This suggestion would put a further burden on an already stretched amenity.

Okehampton?s population is still growing and I would urge the public to express their concern.
