ON behalf of Bridestowe WI members I wish to correct Mrs Margaret Gale's letter of March 25 stating that Bridestowe Parish Council has not officially given its final approval to the proposed bus shelter.
The WI members are well aware of this fact and if Mrs Gale re-reads the article in the Okehampton Times of March 18 she will see that it reads: 'Bridestowe WI already has the approval of the parish council and West Devon Borough planning department to investigate the design and funding of the new bus shelter and is now seeking the opinions of parish residents'.
As a matter of courtesy, approval of the parish council to investigate the matter was sought by the WI some months ago and this point was mentioned at the recent parish council meeting.
Judging by the response to the notice and the number of signatures to date on the document in the Riverside Stores. We appear to have the support of many parishioners.
Our aim is to secure the provision of an attractive and useful amenity for the village to commemorate the Millennium.
