THE new season of Tavistock Recorded Music Society opens on Tuesday, September 6 at 7.30pm in the Portrait Room at the Bedford Hotel.

Members meet fortnightly to listen to varied programmes of classical music, diluted with the occasional dash of jazz and light music.

Some presenters are specialists — musicians, representatives of record companies — bringing discounted CDs) who visit the society, but many members enjoy putting together a programme to their own taste to share with their friends.

The society is a great venue for meeting people with similar tastes, chatting over coffee, exchanging CDs or arranging visits to musical events. Like many societies, it attracts retired people, sometimes new to the area, but recently it has had a welcome influx of younger members.

On the first visit, entry is free.
