SEVERAL areas in Calstock parish are set to be covered for icy conditions thanks to the parish council agreeing to buy three new salt bins.

Salt bins were requested by residents for Delaware, All Saints Park and Chapel Close in St Ann's Chapel and after evaluation the council were told that the areas passed the criteria warranted for salt bins.

The town clerk informed councillors that the price of salt bins plus the salt had gone up to £200 and it was unlikely they wold find them cheaper anywhere else.

Cllr Dick Hoile said: 'We didn't spend a lot on salt last year, so I suggest it would be a good use of our money to buy all three.'

Councillors voted unanimously in favour of purchasing the three bins.
