A NEW piece of equipment for teenagers has been added to the popular village park in Yelverton. The park was created by local charity Yelverton Community Projects and officially opened in August 2000. Since then it has been used extensively by children and their families, and remains highly popular. The decision was taken by the park's committee last year to add a new facility in the park for teenagers. And at a cost of £7,000 a combination of three pod seats with a belt hammock covered with sail-type roof panels were purchased from Playdale Playgrounds, the suppliers of the whole range of play equipment in the park. The piece of equipment is designed to bridge the gap beyond conventional play equipment for children and provide something for young teenagers. Brian Medhurst, chairman of the committee, said: 'The installation of this piece of equipment is extremely complex and we were delighted to accept the very generous offer from Ken Farnham at Farnham Bros, our highly regarded local builder, to install the equipment for us. 'Despite the awful winter weather this was completed before Easter and now the whole set up is attractively finished.'
