TAVISTOCK and District Ring and Ride has moved into a new office at 65 West Street, Tavistock ? next door to the Town Farm Vets. The move has come about because they had outgrown their current office in the Anchorage Centre. The telephone number remains the same (01822) 618028 and the office opening times will be 9am to 12.30pm Monday to Friday. Devonwide Bus Passes will still be available from the Ring and Ride office as before. Stephen Fryer, chairman of Tavistock and District Local Transport Partnership, which runs the Ring and Ride, said: ?With two drivers and a co-ordinator, operating the service from our original small office was proving difficult. It has taken us a while to find suitable premises. But our new office will allow the to develop the service further. ?We are grateful to the Anchorage Centre for allowing us to share their facilities for so long.? The partnership is looking for volunteers to help with future projects and to assist with the running of the Ring and Ride. Volunteer drivers are especially needed to cover for holidays, etc for Ring and Ride drivers. Full training to Devon County Council standard is available. The Ring and Ride operates two disabled access mini-buses on routes in and around Tavistock. The service is available to older people, the disabled or those who are rurally isolated who find they have difficulty accessing public transport. Passengers pre-book their trip on the bus, which collects and returns to them to their door. Both mini-buses are fitted with wheelchair lifts.
