A NEW member for Tavistock's South ward has been co-opted to Tavistock Town Council, following its meeting last Tuesday.

Sue Bailey was one of three applicants who put themselves forward for the seat.

Originally from Dorset, she has lived and worked in Tavistock for the last seven years. She originally worked as a secretary but has been involved in charity work, in a customer service role, and as a volunteer at Morwellham.

'Tavistock is a vibrant, interesting and historic town which needs to be nurtured for future generations,' said Cllr Bailey, who described herself as a 'positive, practical person' and who said she looked forward to working as part of the team which was the town council.

The unsuccessful applicants were Steve Hartley and Tony Smith.
