OKEHAMPTON Farmers? Market holds its monthly market this Saturday in its new home in the town?s market hall. To mark the occasion of moving to the market hall, a prize draw was organised last month. The first prize winner of a £10 voucher to spend in the market was J Pillivant, of Okehampton. Other winners of various small prizes were: Ray Vallance; Doreen Hitchcock; D Chamings; Mrs P Greenwood, Mrs E Wright, M Chamings and Tim Hills from Moretonhampstead. Linda Davies, of Westlake Orchards, a regular stallholder at the market, said the January market had been a ?bumper day? with an ?upsurge in interest? from the public, and many producers reporting takings a third up or double a normal day. She said five years since its inception the farmers? market was continuing to grow and was introducing a number of new stallholders selling venison, freshly caught fish, pates and plants. The market runs from 9am to 2pm in the market hall this Saturday.
