IT looks increasingly likely that a long awaited footpath from Pearce's Garage to the Tamar Valley Centre at Drakewalls will go-ahead.

Calstock Parish Council is to apply for £9,000 towards the £12,000 project from the East Cornwall Local Action Group and is identifying additional funding sources to make up the shortfall including delving into its own reserves.

Cornwall councillor Russell Bartlett has said that he would be willing to use the remainder of his 'community chest' money which is the money allocated to him from Cornwall Council for community projects.

It has been an aim since the centre was built to get a footpath installed so people can walk safely from Gunnislake Railway Station to the Tamar Valley Centre. The path will be wide enough for people in wheelchairs and parents with pushchairs.
