STUNNING work by artist John Hurford is to go on display at Shebbear College for a special exhibition.
A self-taught artist, Hurford was born on a farm in North Devon in 1948.
He worked as a farmer, painting in his spare time. During the late 1960s he was one of the leading psychedelic painters, having work appear in Oz, IT and Gandalf's Garden magazines.
He has also illustrated over 40 children's books and his paintings have been exhibited all over the world, including such prestigious venues as the Whitney Gallery in New York, the Tate Gallery in Liverpool and a permanent collection at the V&A Museum in London.
The college will have a free viewing of the exhibition on May 6 from 6pm to 8pm. Cheese and wine will be available to all visitors and the paintings in the exhibition will be available to purchase.
May 6 is also the college open day, during which everyone is free to have a look around the school and see it in action.
