THE Robey Trust — which is responsible for mounting the annual Tavistock Steam Fair — has now become a company with charitable status.
Trustee Dave Davies said the organisation, now reconstituted as the Robey Trust Limited, has full public liability status to cover the wide range of activities it carries out.
'In the 19 years that the trust has been in existance it has gone from strength to strength. There are more engines and tools to operate with than ever before,' he said.
Mr Davies said the trust, based at the New Perseverance Ironworks in Pixon Lane, was always keen to welcome new members.
'With the ever growing steam fair and other events we need the manpower to keep the show on the road.
'We are always willing to show people around and welcome those who want to join — especially if they have practical experience.'
The trust is in the process of buying an additional small piece of land from Devon County Council to allow the works to expand.
The 12th annual Tavistock Steam Fair will take place on the usual regular date, the first Sunday in June, 2003.
